Safety First

If you see a leak/overflow warning or water under the unit: shut the water off and don’t run another cycle.
If you smell burning or see sparks: switch the breaker off and contact a pro.

Quick Self-Check (safe steps)

  1. Power reset at the breaker for 5–10 minutes.
  2. Clean the filter & sump; check the drain hose and disposal knockout.
  3. Confirm the door latch and make sure racks aren’t blocking spray arms.
If the error returns, a component fault is likely—we’ll pinpoint it on-site.

LG Error Codes (plain-English guide)

  • AE / E1 — Leak detected. Water in the base triggered the float switch. Shut water off; do not run another cycle. Source may be hose, seal, sump, or inlet.
  • IE — Fill fault. Not enough water entering (closed valve, kinked line, clogged inlet screen, or low pressure). Open the valve; if it returns, test the inlet valve/sensor.
  • OE — Not draining. Standing water from a restriction (filter, air gap, disposal knockout, hose routing) or a weak drain pump. Clear paths; if OE persists, inspect the pump.
  • FE — Overfill. Too much water (stuck inlet, oversudsing, or out-of-level cabinet). Stop cycle, clear suds, check fill system/level.
  • tE — Temperature sensor error. Abnormal thermistor reading. If it returns after a reset, test sensor/wiring at the heater/sump.
  • HE — Heating fault. Didn’t reach target temp or overheated. Verify hot supply, then test heater circuit, thermostat/thermal fuse, wiring.
  • LE / CE — Wash motor error. Circulation motor jam/seize or harness issue. Persistent LE/CE needs motor/harness diagnostics.
  • nE — Vario (spray) motor issue. Spray-arm actuator stuck/failed. If it repeats after reset, schedule service.
  • bE — Oversudsing. Non-DW soap or too much detergent. Drain, rinse the sump, use only DW detergent.
  • PE (select models) — Water level sensor. Abnormal level reading; inspect sensor and connections.

Pro tip: Snap a photo of the error display and the model label (LDFN…, LDT…, LDS…). Attach both when booking so we bring the right parts.

How the Service Works

  1. Book in minutes — call/text or request online; choose a 2-hour window.
  2. On-site diagnostic — targeted tests (fill, heat, circulation, drain, sensors).
  3. Clear estimate — parts + labor + tax; you approve before work.
  4. Repair & warranty — many fixes same visit; backed 180 days.

What We Actually Do (LG-focused)

Observe → Hypothesize → Test → Fix → Verify

  • Observe: quick cycle; listen to fill/circulation/drain; check water level, filter, arms, seals, hose routing.
  • Test: fill rate/level, spray-arm spin and pressure, heater temp rise, drain rate/backflow, sensor/control behavior.
  • Fix: clean/clear/descale with stainless-safe chemistry; correct high loop/air gap; level the cabinet; partial disassembly only as needed (filter housing, arms, accessible sump cover, toe-kick/drain area).
  • Verify: short proof cycle—spray pattern, temp rise, leak check, final drain, drying.

Result: restored pressure and heat, fewer re-washes, quieter operation, less strain on pumps, heaters, and seals.

Common LG Parts We Carry (for faster first-visit repairs)

Circulation pump/motor, sump assembly, inlet valve, drain pump, door gasket, turbidity/NTC sensors, spray arms and hubs, toe-kick leak components (where applicable).

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does error code 'AE' on my LG dishwasher mean?

A: The 'AE' code indicates a drainage problem. This is usually caused by a clogged drain hose, a kinked drain hose, or a malfunctioning drain pump. For your safety, unplug the appliance before proceeding. Check the drain hose for kinks or clogs. If connected to a garbage disposal, ensure it's clear and run it briefly. Check that the drain filter at the bottom of the dishwasher is not blocked. If the problem persists, contact a qualified technician.

Q: What should I do if my LG dishwasher is leaking?

A: For your safety, unplug the appliance before proceeding. Carefully inspect the area around the dishwasher for any visible signs of leakage. Check the door seal for any damage or debris. Inspect the hoses for any cracks or loose connections. If you can't identify the source of the leak, contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

Q: Why is my LG dishwasher so noisy?

A: Excessive noise from your LG dishwasher can be caused by several factors, including worn-out bearings, a loose spray arm, or items falling into the chopper assembly. Ensure there are no loose items inside the dishwasher. For further diagnosis and repair, contact a qualified technician.

Q: What does error code 'FE' mean on my LG dishwasher?

A: The 'FE' code, like 'AE', indicates a drainage issue. This can be due to excessive water, a blocked drain hose or air gap, or a faulty drain pump. For your safety, unplug the appliance before proceeding. Check the drain hose for kinks and blockages. Make sure the air gap (if installed) is clear. Inspect the drain filter for debris. If you can't resolve the issue, consult a qualified appliance repair technician.

Expert Advice: Repair or Replace?

At Volt & Vector, we believe in transparent and honest advice. Deciding whether to repair or replace your LG dishwasher depends on several factors. The age of your appliance is a key consideration. If your dishwasher is nearing the end of its typical lifespan (around 10 years), a replacement might be more cost-effective in the long run. The cost of the repair itself is another important factor. We’ll provide you with a clear and accurate estimate upfront, so you can make an informed decision.

Finally, the type of problem plays a role. Some issues, like minor leaks or faulty switches, are relatively simple and inexpensive to fix. Others, such as major motor or control board failures, might warrant a replacement, especially in older models. Our experienced technicians will assess your specific situation and provide expert guidance, helping you choose the best course of action for your needs and budget.

About Us & How It Works

1. Schedule your visit

2. On-site diagnostic

3. Approve & repair

4. Done & covered

COI (Certificate of Insurance)

COI available on request for buildings that require it (common in Manhattan condos/co-ops; less common in Brooklyn and Queens walk-ups). We can only issue COIs that match our actual policy. If your building asks for limits or endorsements outside our coverage, we cannot modify the policy or issue a non-compliant COI. In those cases, we’ll tell you immediately so you don’t lose time and can choose a contractor whose insurance matches your building’s requirements. Many service calls do not require a COI; your building or management office can confirm what they need.
Also keep in mind: sometimes the issue is not a failed part but an installation problem or incorrect use (for example, blocked vents, overloaded washers, or wrong panel clearances). Our technicians will point that out and show you how to prevent the same problem in the future.

Warranty & Compliance

180-day warranty on both parts and labor for completed repairs. All parts are factory-original OEM, sourced through authorized distributors. For older appliances, it’s normal for surrounding components to start showing their age. One repair can expose another weak part. When that happens, we don’t just “stack” charges - we explain what changed, what failed, and your options before doing any extra work. Work is performed in line with applicable NYC electrical, gas, and plumbing safety requirements. Documentation is stored securely so we can reference past visits.

Safety & Courtesy Protocol

We treat every visit like we’re guests in your home: Technicians wear shoe covers or remove footwear when requested. We protect floors and surrounding surfaces where tools or panels are used. We clean up our work area when the job is done. If you ever notice dust or a small mess left behind, that’s on us — each tech handles multiple calls per day, but that’s not an excuse. Tell us and we’ll make it right.
Timing & communication: If your window is 11–1, the tech will usually aim to arrive closer to the start of that window when routing allows. You’ll typically receive a text alert ~30 minutes before arrival. If we’re running late or a prior job explodes into something bigger (premium built-ins love surprises), we’ll text you as soon as we know.
Goal: work clean, stay safe, respect your space and your time.

Why Volt & Vector

We’ve spent years working inside large NYC repair companies - seeing how real technicians get buried under rushed schedules, fake “same-day” promises, and endless call-center noise. Volt & Vector grew out of that frustration. We wanted a place where diagnostics still matter, where techs can take time to do the job right and talk to people directly. We’re not calling ourselves perfect - far from it - but we’re building the kind of service we always wanted to work for: respectful, transparent, and run by people who actually fix things.

Pricing & Diagnostic Policy

The $99 diagnostic visit is always billed at the first appointment. That’s the starting point for every job. After the visit, the technician sends notes, photos, and test results to our service desk. Sometimes the tech can give a ballpark range on-site, but we’re moving away from instant “off-the-cuff” quotes — OEM parts pricing moves fast, and we prefer accuracy over guessing.

Simple issues

Things like a clogged filter, loose connection, minor reset or simple adjustment can often be fixed on the spot, starting from $99 (diagnostic-only level) if no extra parts or extended labor are needed.

Repairs with parts

We’d rather be blunt than vague: NYC appliance repair is not cheap, especially on Sub-Zero, Miele, Viking, Wolf, Fisher & Paykel, and Bosch.

Our promise is not “lowest price” - it’s clear diagnostics, OEM parts, and no surprises: You see the diagnostic results and estimate before any repair begins. The $99 diagnostic is credited when you proceed with that repair. If a job doesn’t make financial sense (age, condition, part cost), we say that out loud and walk you through options.

Excellent experience with Vlad! He came day of to help fix a laundry machine issue. He was on time, a clear communicator about the issue and fixed it with ease. He came back the following day (at no charge!) when I reached out with further information about how the machine was working to confirm everything was working properly/as intended. Excellent service and will absolutely be working with them again when we have future needs. Can’t recommend enough!

Vlad has been an incredible asset. In the few months we've known him, he's already fixed a dryer, two washing machines, and an oven! He's always very upfront with the repairs needed and the associated costs with fixing an appliance. I wouldn't hesitate at all to hire him for any future appliances in need of repair

I split my time between Italy and NYC and manage several Airbnb units. Scheduling used to take too much energy around guest check-ins and turnovers. With Volt & Vector Appliance Repair, the routine became predictable: clear 2-hour windows (9–11am or 12–2pm), a text with ETA, written pricing (diagnostic credited), before/after photos, and a short summary after each visit. Over ~30 repairs in two years: washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges, a refrigerator seal. They’ve kept me informed and moved quickly on parts (usually 24–48 hours when ordered). Access and lockboxes are handled without drama, work areas are left clean, and my reviews stayed steady. Hosting from abroad is easier when maintenance is this consistent. Strong recommend for Brooklyn and Manhattan hosts.

Amazing service every time! I work for a multi-use property in lower Manhattan and we have used Volt & Vector for at least 20+ jobs and I can honestly say they do incredible and reliable work. Vlad is a pleasure to work with, he is honest and his pricing is fair. Highly recommend!
