Honest service that works – powered by real techs.
A dryer belt wraps around the drum and motor pulley, driving the tumble. When it breaks or slips, the drum stops spinning even though the motor runs. Replacing the belt restores tumbling and proper drying. It is one of the most common and straightforward dryer repairs.
Symptoms include motor running but drum not turning, dryer humming without movement, or clothes staying wet. A burning rubber smell may appear before total failure. Some dryers click as the motor spins free. Visual inspection shows a snapped or loose belt.
Quick fixes: unplug dryer, remove panel, inspect belt. If broken, install OEM replacement along pulleys and tensioner. Clean pulleys and rollers, align drum, and reassemble. Check idler pulley spin. Run test cycle to confirm smooth tumble.
Error codes: Samsung/ LG may show 3E/3C or dE from drum not turning. Whirlpool/Maytag: F31/F32 motor faults. GE: E51/E52 drive errors. Most dryers lack direct belt codes, showing only motor or drum faults.
Call a pro if belts snap repeatedly, or if pulley, motor, or rollers are misaligned. Professionals can replace belts, pulleys, and align drums quickly. Built‑ins or stacked units require expert handling. Correct repair restores smooth tumble and dryer efficiency.
