Why a Whirlpool Condenser Dryer May Still Make Noise After Multiple Repairs
Whirlpool heat-pump dryers collect moisture removed from the clothing and pump that water into a drain or collection tank. Whirlpool describes an occasional soft gurgling sound as normal. A loud mechanical rattle, grinding noise, or harsh vibration coming directly from the pump is not normal.
Once the pump inlet, sump, hoses, mounting points, and surrounding area have been checked and the noise is confirmed inside the pump itself, there is no reliable adjustment, lubrication, or cleaning procedure that will repair it. The pump must be replaced.
If a Whirlpool condenser or HybridCare dryer is still making noise after several technicians have already inspected it, replaced the rollers, checked the pulley, belt, blower wheel, motor, and other rotating parts, the problem may be the condensate drain pump.
This is a failure we encounter regularly, although there is surprisingly little useful information about it online. Most articles about dryer noise repeat the same standard causes: rollers, idler pulley, belt, blower wheel, or drive motor. That information applies to conventional dryers, but it does not fully apply to Whirlpool condenser dryers because these machines also have a pump that removes condensed water.
When the condensate pump becomes mechanically worn, it can produce a loud grinding, buzzing, rattling, or vibrating sound. The vibration travels through the metal base and cabinet, so the noise may appear to come from the drum, rear rollers, motor, blower, compressor area, or the back of the dryer. Because of this, technicians may continue searching in the drum system even though the actual sound is coming from the bottom of the machine.
The most important detail is that the pump does not run continuously. It activates only after enough moisture has been removed from the clothing and collected inside the dryer. This means the dryer may remain completely quiet during a short empty test.
A technician can run the dryer without wet laundry, hear no abnormal sound, and conclude that the machine is operating normally. Later, when the customer runs a full load, water begins collecting inside the dryer. The control activates the condensate pump, and the noise returns.

This explains why the same dryer can be inspected several times without anyone reproducing the problem. The rollers may be new, the pulley may be good, the drum may rotate normally, and the blower may be clear. None of that matters if the noise occurs only when the condensate pump turns on later in the drying cycle
A noisy pump may also continue draining water normally. It does not have to be completely dead to be defective. The dryer may show no error code, no leak, no standing water, and no obvious drainage problem. The pump can still move water while its internal rotor or impeller mechanism produces severe mechanical noise.
When the noise starts at the same moment the pump is energized and stops when the pump switches off, the diagnosis is usually clear. If the internal mechanism of the pump is making the sound, cleaning the dryer, tightening the housing, or replacing additional drum components will not solve the problem.

The pump is a complete assembly and is not designed for an internal mechanical repair. Once it becomes noisy internally, the practical repair is replacement.
In the case documented here, the remaining noise was traced to Whirlpool condensate drain pump W10903190, which replaces the earlier part number W10608847. The correct part should always be confirmed using the complete dryer model and serial number because Whirlpool uses different pump assemblies across its condenser and heat-pump dryer models.
If a Whirlpool condenser dryer has already had the common noise components inspected or replaced and the same intermittent sound continues, the condensate drain pump should be one of the first remaining components checked. In many of these cases, it is not a minor possibility. It is the part that previous technicians missed.
